Francesca Michielin is an Italian songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. 2011, aged only 16, she won Italian X Factor and her first single, Distratto, was released. In 2016 Francesca was runner-up at Sanremo Festival, with Nessun Grado di Separazione (double platinum awarded). On the strength of her runaway success at Sanremo Festival, Francesca represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest with a praised and evocative performance.
Francesca has been the protagonist of summer 2020 with “Spazi Sonori”, a series of exclusive events that brought her to the stages set up in complete safety and in compliance with government regulations, in some of the most particular locations in our country, waiting for the great party produced by Vivo Concerti, scheduled for June 6, 2021 in Carroponte, the temple of urban music just outside Milan.
Francesca’s last project is FEAT (STATO DI NATURA), her brand new album, released on March 13th 2020 for Sony Music, anticipated by Cheyenne feat. Charlie Charles. The album it’s unique of its kind, composed of 11 featuring, and it’s the result of the collaboration of the singer-songwriter with the most important and interesting names in the music scene.
2019 was a very important year for Francesca: on June 29th, 2019 she performed in Venice, in Piazza San Marco, during the innovative event Aperol Happy Together Live. She had the opportunity of sharing the stage with performers such as Maneskin and Max Gazzè. October 2019 Francesca also collaborates with world-famous singer-songwriter James Morrison: a duet on his renowned track Glorious.
Beginning 2018 2640 (gold disc awarded) was released: the album includes many collaborations with the most important artists of the present Italian musical scene, as Tommaso Paradiso, Calcutta and Cosmo. The single Vulcano introduced the album to the public, then another successful single Io non abito al mare, both awarded with platinum disc. Francesca Michielin then kicked off a long series of live gigs to present her project first in Italian most relevant clubs and then performing in the most important Italian open-air festivals. 2018 she was also opening act for Alanis Morissette in Rome. The above-mentioned tour came after the success of #di20re live (2016), a long list of sold out concerts to present her previous project that followed Nice to meet you tour (2016): few dates in Italy’s top clubs, a “wandering musical autobiography”: she took the stage alone, playing six instruments: piano, guitar, bass, drums, TC-Helicon and glockenspiel.
Francesca has always been sensitive to social issues and her song Bolivia was mentioned in the Amnesty International Prize Italy, which is an historical prize reserved to songs about human rights and environmental issues. Moreover thanks to the collaboration with Treedom, the high number of 2640 streams contributes to plant a forest in Kenya.
Francesca Michielin has also a close connection to cinema; in 2016 her song Almeno tu was chosen to be on Piuma soundtrack, the film was shown at 73rd annual Venice International Film Festival, while Tu sei una favola was on Ballerina (animation movie) soundtrack. She also composed her first original sountrack for A Cup Of Coffee With Marilyn a short film selected for 2019 Festival of Cannes. Recently Francesca was also the voice of Poppy, the main character of the film Trolls World Tour and took part in the soundtrack of the original Netflix production Summertime, with the song Leoni feat.
